Nomi smiles readily, looking at the camera and setting aside a book.]

[It might well be, who even knows anymore.]

I was wondering-- when we spoke the first time, you mentioned the Dark side as though you had some experience with it.

[WHELP]

Yes, I do. Not in a "fell into shadow" way, mind you. But I fought in the Great Sith War, against the fallen Jedi Exar Kun, as well as conflicts against Sith cultists. I've seen the Dark Side, though only from the outside.

Sith Cultists? [His eyes go wide. But, back to the point...] I guess, through all that, you've seen people fall to darkness?

Non-Force Sensitives who work for the Sith.

[She nods.]

Yes. I have. More than a few, unfortunately.

Oh. In my day, we just call those the Empire.

[He sighs, tiered and somber.] I'm sorry, Nomi. I was wondering if... I've always suspected that it changes people, but I've never known anyone from before to measure the difference.

[Nomi nods.]

I understand the question. The answer is complicated. The Dark Side is full of anger, of hate, and fear. You know that, I'm sure. It's probably tried to tempt you. And those emotions change a person. They make you angrier, more hateful, paranoid.

So yes, it does change you. But it's not permanent. Fallen Jedi can be redeemed. I've seen it. I've helped facilitate it. But...they have to want redemption.

I know. I've seen it as well. [His smile lingers. As much as his father is here... he misses his father.]

Do you think it can make someone willing to do things that... before, they never would have done? That they would have been horrified by? How different can it make you?

I've seen one of the kindest, gentlest souls I know turned into a monster. It can make you do terrible things. It's really difficult to say what someone can be like, completely unhinged.

You think that's what the Dark Side does- unhinges you?

I think anything that draws on emotion, but is filled with that much hate and anger is unhinged in some way, yes.

The Sith I knew, the one who turned away from darkness... he was so disciplined. It's not that I don't believe you, I do. I'm just having trouble understanding it all, I think. I've only met two Sith, and one only very... briefly.

You can be disciplined and unhinged. Violent outbursts, intense paranoia, other displays of disregard for life. I tend to think it causes sociopathic tendencies too. But that may have been unique to the individuals I dealt with. Exar Kun was...not stable...even when he was a Jedi but Ulic and Tot were before they turned.

What I saw was... a man obsessed with power, though I didn't know him before, and... someone doing acts he would never have done otherwise. I think because he never would have, before. To prove he could.

Power is the motivation, yes. generally speaking, anyway. Did this individual have a master or did they function on their own?

They... had a master. I only met him once, very briefly.

Is this master Anakin's Sith Lord?

I, um. Yes? [How did she... know that...]

[She just knows Anakin had Sith Lord problems...not that Anakin is one.]

Understood. He was dealt with though? In your timeline?

Yes, my father killed him.
